NEW POST...FINALLYY

Hey everyone,

Sorry it has taken so long to post a message. It has been busy trying to get everything closed out of the "summer mode" and starting fresh with the fall stuff! With fall this year comes CHANGE...we have changed some of our programming in the Studentz Ministry. We have changed how we do Sunday mornings (starting in October), Sunday nights, Wednesday nights. These changes are ones that have been prayed over and discussed with several supports and we fill that this is where God wants the Parkway Studentz Ministry to go. Below are some of the changes we have made:

Sunday Mornings (Starting in October) 9:45-10:45 @ Grange Hall School - Starting October 4th, we will be moving from the K-Wing at Grange Hall School to the Cafeteria. We will have an opening time with students from 6-12 grades together for fellowship and announcements. After the opening time the middle school students will be divided by grades and go to separate classrooms to have a time of fellowship and Bible study. The high schoolers will stay together in the cafeteria and have a video to watch that will introduce the lesson. After the video there will be a large group master teacher session where one of our Studentz Bible Fellowship Leaders will give a quick 10-15 minutes overview of the lesson. After the master teacher session the high school students will be divided up into small groups for discussion. Within these small groups students will connect with each other, discuss the lesson, and pray for one another. There will be adult leaders leading each discussion group. All of this wraps up around 10:45.

Sunday Nights - For Sunday night activities this fall, we will have a different activity or emphasis each Sunday night of the month. One Sunday a month we will have Middle School and High School separate fellowships that will meet at different places each time. We may also do fellowships with Middle School and High School together. Every 2nd Sunday of the month we will have SNL. SNL will look and feel different. SNL is going to be a worship service with an evangelistic intent. This will be a time to bring friends to b/c at every SNL the Gospel will be clearly given and an invitation will always be given so students can respond to God's working in their hearts. We will have food, games, giveaways, worship, and fellowship. On a different Sunday we will have a LIVE LOVE Sunday where we will go out into the community and serve in some way or do an outreach event. On another Sunday night we may have a special emphasis night or a church wide or community event to be a part of!

Wednesday Nights - On Wednesday nights we have a couple of different options/opportunities for students. For the Middle School students we have Middle School CONNECT. This is a Bible study just for middle schoolers! We meet in cottage B2 on Wednesdays starting at 6:30pm. We start out with our very own Middle School Student Band and then move into the Bible study. We wrap up at 8:00pm with a review of the lesson and prayer time. Middle School CONNECT is great way to CONNECT with God while we CONNECT with each other! For High School students we give them the option of serving in our Children's Ministry program, Club 14:6, OR they can go to a High School d_group (discipleship group) hosted by Pastor Brian and his wife in his office. The study that this group is going through is a study on the attributes of God. Wedensday nights are a great time for discipleship and service!

*There is also one more high school d_group (discipleship group) option for High School students. This study meets on Tuesday nights at the home of Kyle Walton. Kyle is taking students through the book "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. Students meet at Kyle's house at 6:45pm and are done by approx. 8:30pm. This is a great time to fellowship with others and to be challenged in your faith!*

I will soon be posting a calendar of the fall schedule on here with these programs and other events that will challenge you to grow close to God and encourage you to spread the gospel in the world that you live!

If you need any information about the above programs or other things in the Studentz Ministry, feel free to contact Mike Camire through phone (804-639-2236) or by email (mcamire@parkwayfamily.org)!

Thanks!

M-FUGE 2009

Since FUGE I have been amazed at what God has been doing in my own life and in the lives of our students. I have seen a passion and fire for God and His Gospel in many of our students after this year's FUGE. I would go on record and say that this year's FUGE was one of the best that we have been to. The worship was great and the messages each night were convicting. God spoke and moved in our group in mighty ways. My prayer is now that students are back home and back into their daily routines that they would take time to continue their quiet times, prayer time with God, worship, and service to others. It is great and easy to do all of that away from family, friends, and other "stuff" in our lives but we need to focus on what is most important in our lives and that is our relationship with Christ. A relationship is 2-fold and requires us participate. God is there waiting on us to call on him and spend time with him. He wants to spend time with us but many times we brush him aside for other things, other people, and other stuff. Don't treat God like that. He has done so much for you and for me and wants us to grow in our relationship with him and tell others about him and His gospel message! So as we are back into the groove remember to keep God FIRST in all that you do...pray to him, read and study his Word, worship Him, call out to Him...He desires and wants that from us.

The final highlight video from FUGE will come soon...I have been having technical difficulty with my video software ever since I have come back from Romania...Keep checking back for it!

FUGE REPORT

FUGE DAY 1:
The Day of Travel!

Well...we made it! After many hours of driving, watching movies, napping, and crazy yelling on the bus...we made it to M-FUGE in Charleston, SC! The ride down was AWESOME...charter buses are the way to go to camp! Once we arrived and the bus doors opened, the South Carolina humidity hit us like a ton of bricks. Once we got off of the bus, we hit the ground running. We arrived at around 3:30 and did not get done until 11 or so Monday night. It was a busy day but a fun day! Thank you for your prayers and support! ENJOY THE VIDEO!

Sunday Night Live (SNL)

SNL is our student worship time on Sunday nights for students in 6th grade all the way up to 12th grade. It is a time where students and their friends can come and get fed (physically and spiritually!!) SNL lasts from 6-8PM in the FLC. Our typical SNL schedule goes like this:
6-6:40 - FOOD and Fellowship Time
6:40-7:00 - Praise and Worship led by our own Student Band
7:00-8:00 - Games/Open Gym and Bible Study
(*The Middle School and High School students are split from 7-8PM for separate game time and Bible Studies.*)

Mike and Kelly Lucas assist me at SNL by teaching the Middle School students. Currently they are working through a study called "Wild Truth." This study introduces Middle Schoolers to some of the coolest characters in the Bible and relates them to the everyday struggles that these students face today. Wild Truth includes lessons on decision making, influencing others, God's forgiveness, and more!!

I teach the High Schoolers and we are currently working through a study called "When Worldviews Collide." It is a DVD series led by Dr. Ergun Caner, who spoke to us at FUGE last summer. In this study Dr. Caner, who is a former Muslim, compares the worlds 4 major religions (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism) with Christianity and shows students how Christianity is a relationship and not a religion. He also teaches students how to witness to people that are involved with these religions and leads students to stand up for their faith in today's culture. After the teaching time on the DVD we then spend time in discussion about what Dr. Caner taught in the video.

We invite you do come out to Parkway on Sunday Nights for this great time worship!!
